Vitamix vs. BlendTec vs. Breville: Who Makes the Best Blender?

Vitamix vs. BlendTec vs. Breville: Who Makes the Best Blender ?

I still remember the first time I use a Vitamix blender in a professional restaurant kitchen. The first time I felt the power of it raw, fear of a complete control dial similar, soups that flowed down my throat like silk smooth. If you have been horrified by the texture of a purée or soup in a fancy restaurant, the odds are one of the machines responsible. The good news is, they are now easily available for the home chef. Bad news? There are many choices for an the best blender, and they are expensive. We’re talking at least $400.

For those kind of bucks, you want to make sure that you are getting the best blender for your needs, and one that will last for many years. I’ve spent the past few weeks put a list of blenders through their steps to bring you three of my top recommendations: Vitamix 5200, the designer Blendtec WildSide Jar, and Breville Boss. Each is a great choice. Which one you choose all depends on your individual needs.

WHY DO I NEED AN BEST HIGH END BLENDER?

Best blender those with a peak horsepower of two or higher don’t come cheap. The least expensive model will cost about $400. So why would you pay 2-4 times the price of a standard blender for something that does pretty much the same job? Because a blender high capacity they are simply better. Soups and smoothies smoother. Crushed ice faster. Cereal you can mill specs for your own. Fresh avocado seeds and Purees. You get the idea.

The truth is, you probably do not need one, but once you’ve got your first taste of a hot soup that is as smooth as silk or a really smooth, vitamins and fiber seed free , you’ll have a heck of a hard time walking.

If you have ever had a completely blender out on your nose in a sputtering of plastic smoke and dust, there is another reason for you. It is an often overlooked factor in the assessment, but the testimony of customers and years of use can provide some insight: Best high end blender is simply more durable and reliable. All three machines that grind our list feature solid metal gears on both the base and the average blender. A metal blender instruction will last almost forever, and the mill seven-year warranty to prove it. shiny metal ring in the blade enclosure also makes a more efficient mix and longevity.

THE CANDIDATES FOR BEST BLENDER

There are a ton grinder out there at different price ranges, but for this test, I have focused on best blender: blender with a capacity value of at least two. I also set a ceiling price at $ 500, the price of a few of Blendtec’s, Vitamix ‘s, and Waring’s most expensive models.

I will go into details of the experiment, but first look at each of three winners.

THE TEST WITH BEST BLENDER

We all use an the best blender for different tasks at home. Some people use them almost exclusively as blender. Some use them on weekends to crushed ice or frozen fruit drinks. People on raw food use them to make soup smooth, natural food and peanut butter. A baker will use them to grind grain. As a former restaurant chef, my main uses are blending hot soups and Purees. Marketers will tell you that their grinder can also do things like dough or batters.

To check each job, I’ve done the following in each blender, start with identical sets of components. In case there is a button grinder designed positioning to perform a specific task, I tested both using preset, as well as control them manually.

Here is what I did in each blender:

  • I crushed an ice tray.
  • I pureed carrot soup hot one liter.
  • I made a cup of peanut butter from roasted peanuts.
  • I do enough blackberry, strawberry, kale, yogurt and smoothies to feed four.
  • I do, in addition to extra large thick milkshake.
  • I’ve done a pint hummus.
  • I made a cup of mayonnaise.
  • I made two frozen margarita.
  • I crush a cup and a half of corn four.
  • I ground a half pound of raw carrots.
  • I made a series of pizza dough.
  • I ground a half pound of beef.
  • I hit a half pound of heavy cream.

RESULT

I very quickly learned one thing about the blender during the test: There really is no comparison between a blender large capacity and a standard, sub-horsepower two blenders. Weak case seeded grinder and fiber rear, powerful blender to form a smooth purée perfectly-smooth soup so you can pour them through a chinois lining and leave nothing behind. To really show you the difference, I mixed some blackberry-kale smoothies with standard grinder (highest rated “Best Buy” from Illustrated Cook grinder mill testing standards’ s) and in I Vitamix 5200.

I try to make smoothies with a huge quantity of kale to demonstrate the relative ability of the grinder for grinding fiber breakage and plant cells to release more nutrients and result in smoother. This is what we get, and remember that I designed this experiment deliberately exaggerated colors released from various cells. The result was not particularly delicious (albeit very good):

our test with best blender
Our test with best blender

Left smoothie made in a blender, and the standard is purple pigment easy release from the tray. The kale is chopped into tiny bits, but the bits that remain relatively intact, very little chlorophyll green is released from inside the cells.

Right Smoothie made with the Vitamix blender is brown, a result of the purple pigment in the mixed platter with chlorophyll green was released from the cells kale completely pulverized. See the difference?

Despite what the marketers say, none of these machines is a contraption replace everything in your kitchen. A food processor or stand mixer with an attachment is still higher than flour or chopper. A bowl and whisk will do better batters. A hand blender will make faster and creamy mayonnaise. These machines will change your soups and smoothies, not your life.

BLADE DESIGN

The sharpness of the blade without a good relationship like blenders actually done

I also discovered that the characteristics that seem unimportant first is not necessarily the overall performance factors. Some nasty ads razor blade, but the sharpness of the blade without a good relationship like blenders actually done. One of the really sharp blades do: they give you a much higher chance of cutting yourself when cleaning or ruin a rubber spatula during shaving.

Peak horsepower capacity or only a very true indication of performance. Vitamix blender in at 1380 watts and peak horsepower two, breville Boss 1500 watts and two horsepower, and in 1560 designed Blendtec watt and three horsepower, but all three perform the same task, which goes to that good blade and jar design is as important as raw power. The actual horsepower delivered to the blade can vary depending on many factors including how efficiently cooled motors, the amps coming into the machine, and how efficiently energy is converted from one form to other.

Number of wings are also not related to performance. An the best blender offered a fixed central shaft with six wings are arranged up and down it. Despite the threat appeared, blender can not measure up to models with a swirling blade system based on the traditional style than the bottom. Three models of our victory, Blendtec only two dull blade, the Vitamix four moderately sharp tongue, and breville Boss with a combined six blades of blurred and jagged edges.

DESIGN JAR

The shape of a blender jar can affect the effectiveness of the mix. Ridges, fins, and two more parties make more unstable, thus making the air more, but they can also make the blender more difficult to clean or scrape, so finding the balance is the key. High, narrow, thinner jar Vitamix blender that’s most efficient production the vortexing vortex action pulled down into the propeller components below.

This is important because a good whirlwind not only lead to faster, more efficient mixing, but it also means less blinking, which means less food is wasted by being stuck on the lid or two side of average. Take a look at the photo above. Even at high speeds, vitamins showed barely blinking: all the liquid is circulated back to get the blade below.

Conversely, more extensive square jar on Blendtec blenders lead to tons of splashing. The liquid almost bounced up and down as it mixed. While this is done only a little difference in the quality of the finished mix, it makes the task where a strong tornado and splashing necessary minimum as making mayonnaise-much more difficult, if not impossible.

Jar design also comes into play when emptying containers: The Vitamix has a long hose that makes pouring drip free pouring. The breville is somewhere in the middle, while Blendtec no tap at all, almost guarantee that you will be dripping soup or smoothies to your visitors as you pour from the bottle.

SOLID WASTE MIXED WET

As I mentioned above, a possible tornado is very important when it comes to blending soups, smoothies, and other pourable liquid. Purees about thick butter, dips, or seeds? In these cases, you will want to have one of two things: A large bottle with the ability to easily impulse, which bounces the large volume of food up and down so they do not end up riding around blade or a blender birth a factor that comes with the company scrambling to push food down chunks of tongue.

The Blendtec go with the previous method, which makes it the best in the hands-off addiction tender. An ultra-wide basis and good presets quickly reduce raw vegetables and nuts to Purees and butter, but if you want great results, you’ll still have to stop it occasionally to scrape down the sides with a spatula . Carrot has been reduced to a paste-like baby food within 45 seconds in the Blendtec. With breville, on the other hand, a narrow jar means that after 45 seconds, the volume is still large carrots. The Vitamix showed similar results.

That said, once you factor in tampers including for Breville and Vitamix, you get a different story. Stepping up the components of the mixer blades down Purees which is even smoother than the manufacturer Blendtec. For me, a few minutes of extra work with high value results. The Blendtec did not tamper with, which means you can not operate it in this way, even if you want to.

CONTROLS

Blender has gradually fallen into what I call the “microwave Trap.” Remember when microwave used to control two buttons-one for power, other than the time and that’s it? Somewhere along the line manufacturers get it in their heads that microwaves have to be at least 20 different presets to be functional, and simply turn it and make it go up to a half dozen push button. That is ridiculous and do simple tasks much more difficult than they should be.

Mixers are not quite at that level of the absurd, but they are getting there fast. Presets can be useful if you are the type who like to multi-task. Want a smoothie in the morning? Just pour the ingredients into the jar before measuring, click the “elements”, and let the machine make your drink while you are bathing or dressing (if the previous setup really works, that is) . Not wanting to disturb know a milkshake should be pulsed slowly before it can be mixed quickly for best results? Good. Press milkshake. But at a certain level, many end nodes overshadowed the basic functions of the machine.

The Breville right on the border of having too many features. With presets, a built-in button time, a pause / off, along with an on / off, a pulse, and an analog knob, it is not immediately clear how to operate it. Analog dial that is not exactly the same either. It works just like the buttons on your car stereo: moving it left or right makes the leap from the motor to the next speed in small increments.

At the other end of the spectrum is the Vitamix, which has nothing but an on / off switch, a switch to put it between the processors and high-speed mode, and an analog dial that is really its analog speed can be adjusted up and down in a continuous smooth all the way from a very lazy stir to a fast 37,000 RPM blindingly.

The Blendtec come in the middle with a touch-screen slider control to not quite analog and a few presets. It is a touch screen, for the record, does not make Blendtec extremely easy to clean. It’s totally fine!

Grinding and ice crusher capabilities

I do not often need ice at home, but this is a standard test for an the best blender, and in this department, which again is a clear winner: Blendtec blows competition out country. With its ultra wide basis, you can drop in a tray of ice cubes and turn it into rubble snow like in eight seconds flat. The crushed rock will breville for about 30 seconds, but leaves large, hailstone like blocks, while Vitamix is not difficult due to its tapered shape. If an ice crusher is what you are looking for, then there is no question Blendtec is the machine for you.

This is an the best blender that I keep on my kitchen counter. It’s a no frills true mean of a machine that would make the soup smooth and Purees you’ve ever tasted. It’s a serious tool that chefs hands on type will really appreciate. Sure, it takes a little time to figure out the best way to make a smoothie or a milkshake without presets to guide you, but with a little practice, you will be better equipped to deal with a more diverse mix of needs than anyone based on presets.

The Vitamix blender also has the lowest rate, which makes the mixing of hot soup is quite simple. The biggest problem that you faced when blending hot soups are created too much uncertainty too fast. Blender has a very high speed low will cause the hot soup to a sudden release of water vapor, which can lead to a blow the lid off, spraying burning hot soup all over the kitchen and your face. slow start of Vitamix blender prevent that happening.

Similar fully control can also help you find the “sweet spot” of a particular type of food you are addicted to tender. That is, the rate at which it created a perfect spiral, drawing continuous feeding in the box. Blender with detailed control do this matter. At a speed, the liquid can not be sucked in down, while on the side, the blade can be turned quickly that the component finally riding near the base on the tongue instead of falling into them.

Vitamix also automatically disconnect feature for the rare occasions when the engine is working too hard. In the entire time I worked with Vitamixes, automatically disconnect and cool down only stumbled twice (both times when extra thick hummus). It gives me peace of mind good to know my blender will turn itself and stop for a short rest than they burn itself out.

The best blender by Blendtec is significantly smaller and lighter than both its competitors, which could be a big problem for small kitchen. Vitamix I for example, will not sit underneath the cabinets in my old apartment. The Blendtec blender no problem. He is also to best mill off, if the snow is moving ice into your game, and it is performed on par with Vitamix for soups and vitamins.

Yes, drip blender jar when you try to pour from it and the lack of a tamper mean you have to stop more often to scrape down the sides when doing things like butter nuts, but that’s wrong small errors in the other great products.

While not quite stack Breville Boss or Vitamix or Blendtec up to the pure blended crushing power, it was very close and excelled in one important area: it has the function of establishing the best available. With a single touch of a button, blender smoothies produce silky, smooth and shake even the most difficult components such as kale or raspberry seeds. It also has the most solid feel to it, with a brushed aluminum look great, but fits well with other devices of that style.
