Serenia Sleep 8-Inch Memory Foam RV Mattress Review
Serenia Sleep 8-Inch Memory Foam RV Mattress is proudly made in the USA with a 20-year limited warranty against manufacturing defects. This mattress has 6 dimensions, king, queen, full, twin, short queen and short full (three-quarter size) to fit RV bed frame and for at-home use. It’s composed of two layers, a 2-inch of 2.5-pound memory foam on top to provide contouring comfort and a 6-inch polyurethane foam at the bottom to hold up body. A firm mattress to provide good nights’ sleep with limited motion transfer after a long day trip, isn’t it a wise choice for your travel plan? Budget-friendly price is another reason why lots of people take this mattress in their RV while they have a Tempur-Pedic at home with about the same comfort. It’s affordable for people who don’t want to spend a lot on a good quality RV mattress just for months or weeks’ travel a year.
Advantages of Serenia Sleep 8” Memory Foam RV Mattress
Firm, motion isolation and pain free
This RV mattress is described to be medium-firm, but it’s more on the firm side. Firm but comfortable in the mean time, it conforms to your body profiles, you won’t sink in a lot. When you get in or out of bed in the middle of the night, your partner won’t feel your movement. Unlike other thicker memory foam, this mattress rebounds quickly and makes it easier to move around. Comfort, no disturbance and no back pain give you a refreshed morning to enjoy a new day’s adventure. For those who are looking for a very soft RV mattress, this isn’t a good choice, the comfort layer on top is a 2” memory foam, not very plush. If your partner like a firm mattress and you prefer a softer one, then adding a plush topper might work. If you want a firmer or cheaper RV mattress, check the 6” foam RV mattress of the same brand, see if this fits you.
6 dimensions available, fits in many RV models and brands
Serenia Sleep 8-Inch offers 6 dimensions, short queen (60” x 75”), short full (48” x 75”), king (72″ x 80”), queen (60″ x 80”), full (54” x 75”) and twin (38″ x 75”). Take measurements on your bed foundation or your original mattress to be replaced to make sure if these dimensions could be used. The 8” memory foam RV mattress fits in lots of travel trailers, toy haulers, fifth wheels, camping trailers, diesel pushers, etc. (e.g., Winnebago and Jayco). It could be used on an adjustable bed with inclination of about or less than 30%. A bunk bed is also ok.
Made in the USA, roll-packed, easy to deliver and little odor
Serenia Sleep mattresses are manufactured by Jeffco Fibres, Inc. in Massachusetts. All its mattresses are made and packed in the USA. Made in the USA indicates the mattresses are not shipped from foreign countries like China or Korea with a lot extra shipping fee added in the price. Higher manufacturing standards, better quality and reasonable price make Serenia Sleep more well received. 8”memory foam RV mattress is vacuum sealed and roll packed in a long cardboard box. The smallest size (twin) weighs 30 pounds, the largest size (king) weighs 65 pounds, not very heavy to move about. Don’t open the box until you carry it to where you intend to place. Once unboxed, it unrolls and expands quickly. It might get inflated to its full size in a few hours. There is slight or nearly zero odor. If you have a sensitive nose, keep it ventilated for a couple of days for safety.
Work great for big people
As this mattress is 8-inch only, not very thick for a memory foam mattress, big people might have a concern whether an 8-inch mattress like this can hold up their weight. Luckily, Serenia Sleep 8” works well for big and average people, it’s supportive enough to hold up a person of 300 lbs without bottoming out.
Sleeps not hot, zipper cover
The 2.5-inch memory foam on top is of open cell design, which keeps hot air inside ventilated and gives a cooler feel. Getting away from sweating problem is a big bonus for those who easily get hot while sleeping. Moreover, the mattress is wrapped by a stretch knit cover with a zipper, easier to remove for washing.
Unlike Serenia Sleep 6” RV mattress, this 8” mattress is one-sided only. Top side has a comfort layer and the other side is just a rough bottom surface. It’s not designed to be flipped, but you could rotate it 180 degrees so that the mattress is evenly worn.
Downsides of Serenia Sleep 8-Inch Memory Foam
Does not provide customized service for special sizes
If you find your RV bed frame dimension isn’t among the mentioned 6 sizes, or you need a mattress of special design, like rounded edge or cut corners, Serenia Sleep can’t help. They don’t provide mattresses with custom, only 6 sizes available. But it’s memory foam, very easy to cut, you could trim the edge on your own if you want. One more thing to mention, cutting will invalidate your warranty for this mattress.
20-year limited warranty, need to pay for return fee
Serenia Sleep gives their mattresses a 20-year limited warranty. However, if you find this 8” RV mattress not the one you want within the 30-day trial period, you could return it, but you need to pay for the return fee.
