Q & A
Q: Does the chair arrive fully assembled?
A: Yes, except for the foot rests which are simple to attach. It is a very sturdy walker which has served me well. I got the purple one and have had a number of compliments on it. One woman remarked, “your walker is a Cadillac; mine is a Ford”.
Q: Are the footrests detachable?
A: There are very detachable. We use the chair to doctor’s appointments and to shop. The chair fold easily and the feet rests remove without a fuss. Very easy to use.
Yes! Footrests are detachable.
Q: Can we add a trough?
A: It is like any other wheelchair with armrests, troughs are easier to mount to full length armrests rather than “deskarms”
Q: Arethe foot pedals removable
A: Yes, and the armrests swing away. It is lightweight also. The patient that uses it is about 135 pounds.
The footrests are removable.
I have purchased several Nova products before, a walker, a wheelchair, and now the transport chair. Nova makes great products. This is a good choice for anyone looking for a lightweight, easily maneuverable transport chair.
If you want a transport chair with large rear wheels and removable arms, this is pretty much your only choice.
That said, it has real problems.
The plastic clips attached to the rear of the sliding seat support do not fit closely, and can easily pop off the rear vertical tubes when the chair is folded up.. When this happens, the chair is locked; it cannot be opened unless you get your hands into the closed seat and snap the clip back on, which is not easy given the limited space.
The footrests are tensioned by the plastic cap at the end of the support. On our chair, that cap is somewhat loose, which means that the footrest is loose and will not stay in the upright position, but rather falls down. This means that the person in the chair cannot easily get in and out with the footrest down.
Greatest transport chair we have owned
This NOVA Transport Chair is awesome. Just what I was looking for. My wife has had MS for 40 years now and in our upper 60’s mobility is becoming an issue. We had a transport chair without handle brakes or 12″ rear wheels. This has both plus brakes for her to set when she goes to a restroom when we are out and about. This one is a bit heavier but built a lot better
Excellent Transport Chair. Very well made. It rolls incredibly smoothly and feels very solid. The wheelchair has two sets of breaks – one set of hand brakes and the other a mechanical brake on the wheel. Both do an excellent job of holding the wheelchair in place. The brakes are much more solid than on any other transport chair we’ve purchased.
