1. Lid Close Detection

If the cap is missing or not closed properly, Instant Pot cooking will not trigger pressure. Just keep warm and fried (in the model only applies) function works with the lid is open.

6. High-temperature warning

If the boiler is operating without water or humidity, pressure will not build in the pot. Over heating became the most likely outcome. excessive temperature can build up due to situations such as, lack pot, pot of appropriate non-contact with the heating element, or inner pot radiator problems (eg starch burnt bottom pot in blocking the radiator). In such conditions, Instant Pot electric pressure cooker will stop heating when the temperature within a certain limit.

7. Extreme Temperatures & Power Protection

Instant Pot electric pressure cooker is equipped with a special fuse disconnect electricity at high temperatures, ie 169°C ~ 172°C or 336°F ~ 341.6°F, and the very high currents. A very high electric current drawn by the pot indicates an unsafe situation.

8. Automatic Pressure Control

9. Pressure adjustment protection

If the pressure exceeds 105kPa (15.23 psi), the release of steam (compare with adjustable pressure in a pressure cooker stove-top) will be pushed up to allow steam to be released to lower the pressure in the pot.

10. Secure excess pressure

If the pressure is too high and pressurization malfunction protection, internal protection mechanisms will activate Instant Pot, moved down the pot in order to create a gap between the lid and the inner pot. The steam will be released from distance into the internal chamber and the heating stopped.

To answer this question, we need to clarify a concept here. Is there any way I can fried / brown meat on stainless steel cooking pot before I close it to pressure cook?
