Q & A
Q: If you are in the chair, is it difficult for you to lock and unlock all 4 casters?
A: If you are able to touch the floor in front and at rear with your hands, you should be able to lock the casters. The motion requires you to grasp the locking device and pull upwards. One note of caution about the chair that we have learned from experience. It is a must to rinse off the casters following the soaping process or the wheels get jammed and it makes it very difficult for the chair to move easily and in a straight direction.
The holes in the Chair Bath Toilet legs evidently allow water, etc to penetrate the wheel assembly and the wheels stick in place. Another point, if you anticipate ever having to enter the chair via a hoyer sling, consider purchasing the chair that has the slant back option. The chair back and seat of the standard chair is a rigid 90 degrees.
Q: Will the arms support the weight of a 200 pound person who needs to put full weight on them? They look a bit flimsy.
A: I haven’t tested it but I can tell you that the chair is very sturdy.
Yes they will. But keep in mind that full weight on one side might well tip the chair over. The arms flip back to make transfer easier. They are not really designed for weight support, although they would not break under that weight.
Q: Is there a no tip feature
A: Although the Chair Bath Toilet does not have anti tipper wheels, I have not heard of tipping to be a problem with these as the nature of the chair is indoor use. Thank you
There are openings for no tip bars to be in suite there are openings for no tip bars to be used, but I didn’t have any with my chair.
Outstanding product! Very thoughtful and sturdy construction . This was an expensive purchase but it has more than met our needs and fulfilled the manufacturer’s promises. Delivery was slow but product great for Transport Chair Bath Toilet.
A couple of changes would greatly improve the chair. The front horizontal support for the legs makes it harder for handicapped individual to sit deeply. Possibly an “X” configuration would provide the structural support required while benfitting the sitting process. Another “comfort” feature would be a slight cant to the back seat. It is straight and many handicapped individuals have back issues including compromised posture. This slant feature would make the chair more comfortable.
Works well for my mom who has had multiple strokes. I did also purchase a ramp to help get the chair over a step to get the chair into the shower as the wheels are difficult for me to get over the step with my mom in the chair. Very happy with this Chair Bath Toilet!
Everything I expected. Rather expensive though. The only complaint is that the commode cover can slip out during a sliding board transfer.
